Book List 1

There are times that I would watch first the film before reading the books or vice versa but sometimes I get disappointed after reading the book and watching the movie, it did not happen what was supposed to be in the book. There are moments that watching is better because it is more entertaining.
I am not a bookish but I read during my free time and if I am interested on the novel or books, or if I am not satisfied with the film, then I will read the book. Here’s list of books that I have read:
Most of the reviews says, this book is great. I was expecting to be like the other novel made into film- Love in the Time of Cholera (starring Javier Bardem & Giovanna Mezzogiorno) which I have watched but this is entirely different. Its weird, torture, full of misfortunes, catastrophic and I get confused on the same names again and again of the characters of seven generations of Buendia family. Well, confusing but interesting. Great diversion.
If you have watched the fantasy, action-adventure “I Am Number Four”, this is the 2nd book to that Lorien legacies Series. I like the movie I Am Number Four but it received mix reviews from the critics and there is no sequel at all. Since I am a fan of fantasy i hope they will make “The Power of Six ” into a movie.

I was inspired to read this first novel after watching a Swedish Film ARN Magnusson. The first movie was based on the 2 novels: The Road to Jerusalem and The Knight Templar novels. The sequel to that movie was based on the 3rd novel- The Kingdom at the End of the Road. This book and the movie was one of the best crusaders movie I have read & seen.
I become a fan of Paulo Coelho after reading The Alchemist, so when I saw these books on the roadside of Cairo, Egypt I did not hesitate a minute to buy.
The Choice- Nicholas Sparks

There is no doubt that novels written by Nicholas Sparks mostly made into movies. Before the movie was released last year (2016),  I read the book. Both are amazing. I love the location of the story. and most of his novels are based on Small lovely cities of North & South Carolina, Savannah Georgia etc…

A thousand Splendid Suns – Khaled Hosseini

This is a story of war, love, loss, culture, friendship, family and courage. A real life situation in some countries.

Game of Thrones – George R.R Martin

I read this books up to the 4th book – A Feast For Crows because I am an avid fan of the TV Series and especially Arya Stark (Maisie Williams)and Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Both books and the tv series are really great. Super. Although some of the physical characters of the casts are not the same in the TV series and in the books like the eyes of Targaryens and Lannister,  and the scars of the Tyrion Lannister but still they have done a very great movie/ tv-series. Can’t wait for the next season (Photo from online)

EL james
Fifty Shades by E L James

I have given this as a gift to my colleague during our exchange gift December of 2012. I was not interested about it not until the first movie was released. I read it online- full 3 books and I like how the story ends in the book. The first movie was very interesting like in the book but the Fifty shades-darker movie (2nd), not so, compared to the book, but… still okay. (Photo from online).

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

My office colleague told me to read this book. I find it very interesting. Easy to understand and will take you to an adventure. Most of the moments and happenings are related to our lives. (Photo from online).

cassandra clare
Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I remember reading this book until 4am everyday up to book four which is The City of Fallen Angels. I even ordered it in advance from Virgin Megastore and Borders book store. I like the book. I like the story and I was excited to watch the movie of it with Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower as the main casts BUT, it was not the same in the books. Books were great but not the Mortal Instruments-city of Bones movie. Sad. (Photo from online).

J.R.R Tolkien
Lord Of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien
I prefer watching the Lord of the Rings Films than reading the books. I find it difficult to understand some texts in the books; some are deep and in medieval/ Old English text. If you have patience then this is for you. For me reading it once is okay. It’s over-hyped literature. There is no doubt that its a masterpiece for others but not for me. (Photo from online).
stephenie meyer
Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
I have read the books three times except for The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and I have watched the movies many times as well. I love both-movies and books. (Photo from online).
Aside from buying NEW books in bookshops in the malls such as Borders, Book World, Virgin Megastore, I prefer to buy second hand books online or other sources available locally. Its cheaper.
Few online sites where I am ordering are Thriftbooks, Amazon and Alibris. But most I use thriftbooks. Most of the books are in great condition,  like very new and hard bound.
There are many book sites online but I consider also the price of shipping.
At this time, I am reading ” One Thousand Days in Venice”…

  1. When I began “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, I was also dismayed by the same names popping up again and again for different people. My edition had a family tree pictured, but it didn’t help.
After two chapters, I thought that this must be intentional and that the names and identities of the people are simply irrelevant. From then on, I enjoyed the story tremendously, without trying to follow who was whose brother or son.
